Make Your Own Christmas Card Display

One of my favorite things is getting Christmas cards in the mail! I love to see how all my family and friends have changed and how their kids have grown. And I love to display those cards in my home all season. I have often had trouble finding a good way to keep those cards on display without creating a mess or running out of space so I came up with a really fun and easy way to make your own Christmas card display.

What You Need:

  •             garden fan trellis
  •             spray paint
  •             laundry clips
  •             battery-operated strand of mini-lights
  •             hot glue
  •             tacks

First, spray paint your garden trellis. I used a creamy white color. I sprayed it with two coats and let it dry overnight.

Next, lay out your trellis and arrange your wooden clips along the rails. Space them evenly and remember to leave enough room for cards to hang from the clips (most Christmas cards are approximately 5×7). The narrow end of the trellis will be the top of your card tree, so place your clips with the “pincher” pointed down to the wide end of the trellis. At the very top of the trellis, I placed one wooden clip with the pincher facing up so that the first card would act as the “topper” of the card tree.

Once your clips are in a pattern you’re happy with, hot glue them down and let it dry.

Finally, take your battery operated light strand and start attaching them to the outer edges of the rails of your trellis. I used tacks and just hammered them in gently. The head of the tack was wide enough to secure the wire of the lights in place.

You’re done! Hang your card tree in a central location so that you can display all the holiday cards for all the world to see! Such a simple project but I think it’s so fun and it’s a great way to display all those cards without them getting in the way.
